Biden Faces Pressure from Democrats to Step Back from Second Term Run
Many Senior-Ranking White House Advisers Have Also Privately Asked Him to Reconsider
President Biden Says He Has No Intention of Dropping Out of the 2024 Race
President Joe Biden is facing increasing pressure from within his own party to reconsider his bid for a second term in 2024. While only 23 Democratic members of Congress and no congressional leaders have publicly called on him to drop out, several top Democrats have privately told us that they believe the rising pressure from party leaders and close friends will eventually persuade Biden.
President Biden has said that he has no intention of stepping back from his bid for a second term, even though some in his party have asked him to. However, the pressure on him is likely to increase as the 2024 election approaches and more Democratic lawmakers publicly call on him to drop out of the race.
A grueling campaign schedule could put his health at risk, and some Democrats believe that he would be better served by stepping aside and allowing a younger candidate to take his place.
