Norwegian Skier Aleksander Aamodt Kilde Operated on After Horrific Crash

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, a downhill skiing star, underwent surgery at a Bern hospital on Saturday evening after a severe crash. The 31-year-old Norwegian skier was airlifted to the hospital after crashing heavily into safety fences at the final turn of the World Cup downhill race in Wengen.
Kilde's shoulder dislocated in the high-speed crash. He posted a picture from his hospital bed on social media, assuring fans that he was recovering and in good spirits. The surgery was successful, and Kilde is expected to make a full recovery.
Kilde is one of the most successful downhill skiers in recent years. He won the overall World Cup title in the 2021-2022 season and has numerous World Cup podium finishes. He was a favorite to win the downhill race in Wengen but crashed out just meters from the finish line.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) has launched an investigation into the crash. They will review the safety measures in place and determine if any changes need to be made to prevent similar accidents in the future.
